Grewing up as a teenager in the mid 80s the Synthpop of this era shaped my musical background first. In the following years of the late 80s and early 90s it was also EBM, Industrial, Neo classic and Techno. So I have a very personal relationship to songs like Self control by Laura Brannigan, Cold days hot nights by Moti Special, Sandra´s In the heat of the night and others.

A while ago I had the idea of producing a track in mid 80s style myself to honour the music of ´84/´85. I did a small sketch of it in my studio and soon forgot it. A few month ago british radioman Steve Jordan heard this sketch and asked me if he can play it in his radio shows. Yes, of course I would like it to get airplay but.... its just an unfinished demo. So I first recreated the demo and then finished Nightshift the way it was always supposed to be.
Making it as authentic as possible I reactivated some original 80s Synths and Samplers and added a small industrial flavour to it which was also not uncommon in 80s Synthpop.

The track is about a former industry worker in the 1980s remembering
the days of heavy work in the decades which had just passed. Possibly I will later add this piece of music to a long planned concept album about life in the 20th century.
